Mag'oki Attoriy

Image
Today we visited to the historical place, MaÄŸoki attor mosque. Nowadays it is used as a carpet museum. Firstly, we gave information about that place to our teacher. It is speculated as built in the 9th to 10th century on the remains of a Zoroastrian temple from the pre-Islamic era.[1] Before the Arab conquest there was a bazaar on the site of Maghoki Attori Mosque. It was a market for idols, potions and spices – attor (perfumes) and other goods. Besides this, there was formerly a Temple of the Moon (Mah) close to this place. Before the construction of the first synagogue, Jews in Bukhara had shared a place in the mosque with Muslims. Some say that Bukharian Jews and Muslims worshipped alongside each other in the same place at the same time. Other sources insist that Jews worshipped after Muslims. The mosque is also notable for being one of the oldest surviving mosques in Central Asia and one of the few surviving buildings in Bukhara from the time before the Mongolian invasion. I...

Today,I had a wonderful journey to 4 places: Lyabi-hauz, Nadir divanbegi madrasah and khanaqoh,Kukeldash madrasah. It is first time i.have been these places and it has been an amazing experience for me to be together with teacher. The madrasah building, as well as khanaka nearby, were named after vizier Nadir by whose order they were constructed. Vizier Nadir served at a court yard of one the strongest and powerful representatives of Ashtarkhanid dynasty Imamkuli-khan, who ruled in Bukhara in 1611-1642. The board of Imamkuli-khan was one of the most stable and relatively peaceful for the whole history of Ashtarkhanids in Bukhara. It was time when governors paid attention not only to constant wars, but also to town-planning. In Bukhara...

Blacksmith & Forge museum Today,we went to blacksmith forge museum in Bukhara together with course mates, teacher.   Firstly, all of us met at the entrance of the museum.  In addition to the forge, the museum has a collection of blacksmith tools, historical photographs, and documents. It also showcases a Victorian cottage garden and wall paintings dating back to the late 16th century, providing a broader historical context. The museum and tools inside are so impressive that everything there made us feel the past times. The knives, sickles, hoes and other items demonstrate the craftsmanship of blacksmiths of that time. Here,I should tell one thing that this journey has been greater and more enjoyable than the journeys of the previous days.  I am grateful and happy with per day I have had.

Baland Mosque

Image
The Balyand Mosque is a small mosque that is situated in the western part of   Bukhara , in Uzbekistan. The mosque was erected in the rich Bukhara quarter. Today this place is called the Shergyron mahalla. The Balyand Mosque of Bukhara was built more than five centuries ago. It has a small cubic building. It is noteworthy that the construction is of several centuries, and the design in the modern version was made only in the XIX century. In the translation the word "baland" means "high", that is, the name of the mosque can be translated as "High Mosque". But it is named so not because it differs from all others in height, but because it has a very high foundation, which appeared due to the characteristics of the ground. This simple, square in plan building is a masterpiece of interior design, which has been used repeatedly as a role model. And the age of the mosque has more than 500 years. The entrance gates, decorated with paintings, records from the K...
